Long-time Vancouver traffic reporter Kim Larsson passed away Friday at
age 66 following a brief battle with lung cancer. He reported traffic
for the Rogers Radio Group (CKWX/ CKKS-FM/ CKLG-FM/ CFUN-FM) from
1995-2010 and more recently as an Eye in the Sky reporter with the

10/26/23 - Angela Jung has left her position as a Multimedia Journalist with CTV Vancouver to join Global BC as a Reporter/ Producer. The 2013 BCIT Journalism graduate has been with CTV Vancouver since 2018.

Long-time Vancouver radio personality Tom Lucas (Alan Boyle) died
October 3, a week short of his 74th birthday. He entertained at numerous
stations in BC and most notably at CFUN from 1974-88. He was also the
first DJ at newly launched CHRX in 1988. At Tom’s request, there will be

10/24/23 - Vancouver-based Larry Gifford, National Director of Talk Radio at Corus Entertainment, has announced his departure. He held that position since 2019 and was previously Senior Program Director at CKNW AM 980 and All Traffic CKGO AM 730. obituary has been published for former Vancouver broadcaster Ted Farr,
who passed away in Kelowna October 6 at age 75. He was most recently
News Director and midday news anchor at CKFR AM 1150 Kelowna, a position
he still held at the time of his passing. A Celebration of Life will be

(Updated) - We have received information that former CFMI-FM 101.1 Vancouver host
Barry Gaudin has passed away at age 77. Our records indicate he was at CJOR
during the 1970s, then mornings at CFMI, before moving to the morning
show at CIOF AM 1040 in the mid 1980s. Further details from Radio West.

10/13/23 - Veteran Vancouver broadcaster and educator Bill Amos has been named President of the RTDNF, the foundation that awards scholarships for RTDNA
(Radio, TV, Digital News Directors of America - Canada). Amos worked
for CBC Vancouver during the 80s and 90s and was an instructor at BCIT

passed away September 23, has been published. A Celebration of Life is

10/06/23 - Veteran BC broadcaster Ted Farr has died just a week after announcing he was suffering from esophageal cancer.
He held a number of on-air and managerial positions from Vancouver to
Winnipeg for over 45 years, most recently as News Director and morning
news anchor at CKFR AM 1150 Kelowna.

10/05/23 - Former local broadcaster "Tarzan Dan" Freeman returns to the airwaves weekend middays s at boom 97.3 CHBM-FM
Toronto beginning in mid October. He hosted p.m. drive on CFUN-FM
Vancouver in 2011 and a.m. drive on CHTT-FM Victoria 2011-12 before
moving on to Calgary, where he was let go in a format flip early this

10/04/23 - Former Vancouver broadcaster Dave Budge, who was a reporter/ senior producer at CKVU-TV
from 1981-2000, and most recently retired VP of News and Information at
Rogers Sports & Media, is an RTDNA National Lifetime Achievement
Award winner. A posthumous award goes to former CTV Senior Director
Allan Myers, who passed away suddenly in August 2022. Myers started his

Vancouver DJ Red Robinson struck back after popular Vancouver Sun
columnist Jack Scott infuriated radio listeners with comments in his
September 2, 1964 column. Scott ran Robinson's retort in full in his
September 29 column. Ironically, Scott had defended Elvis Presley in
1956 following comments by another popular Sun columnist, Jack

9/28/23 - The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has established the Roy Hennessy Achievement Award for Excellence in Broadcasting.
Each year, the top student in BCIT's Broadcast Radio program will
receive a $1000 scholarship award. Hennessy started his career at CKOK
Penticton in 1962, then entertained at CKLG and CKLG-FM/ CFOX-FM
Vancouver from 1964-79 before moving to management positions in Alberta,
Manitoba and Ontario. He later returned to Vancouver as the Chairman of
Shore Media Group (CHHR-FM) from 2008-10. He passed away June 7, 2022
at age 80.

time Vancouver broadcaster and later video and film producer Jim
Morrison passed away today at age 80. He had been treated for bladder
cancer, which returned. Early in his career he was noted for his
reconstruction of Vancouver Mounties baseball away games on CKWX. He
later held positions at several other Vancouver stations and also worked
at CBC in Calgary before becoming a video and film producer &

has announced she is leaving journalism & media. The 2007 BCIT
Broadcast Journalism graduate has been with Rogers since 2018. She

9/21/23 - CBC Vancouver producer Dan Getz has been appointed Associate Dean, Broadcast and Media Communications at BCIT.
He has been with CBC for 20 years and was previously an instructor at
BCIT's School of Business and Media for 10 years, teaching Media Law,

is undergoing chemotherapy to treat triple positive, invasive ductal
carcinoma, an aggressive form of breast cancer. She is doing her best to
stay working and intends to be a more active voice in the early

morning at Surrey Memorial Hospital after undergoing treatment for an
aggressive form of brain cancer. She had worked at a number of local
radio and TV stations since 1998 and most recently had been a reporter

CRTC has approved an application by Four Senses Entertainment Inc. to
operate a new commercial FM radio station in Squamish. It will operate
at 99.7 MHz with a maximum ERP of 5,000 watts at -349.9 metres EHAAT

9/10/23 - Former Canadian blind Paralympic Games swimmer Donovan Tildesley,
who was unfortunately kicked off a Virgin Voyages Caribbean cruise last
November, has now been contracted to Virgin as an accessibility
consultant. In late August, he was invited on board Virgin Voyages 50th
anniversary VIP cruise, where he met Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson.

who has been absent since he underwent successful heart valve
replacement surgery in May, says he is feeling fine and will be
returning to work. His first day back is scheduled for Tuesday,

the organization will host Red Robinson Day at the Fair August 31 on
the 66th anniversary of the famed Vancouver Elvis concert. Prior to the

a special video presentation commemorating the life and achievements of
Red will be played, highlighting the many contributions to the music

at age 86. He also worked for the Corporation in Yellowknife and
Montreal, retiring from Hansard TV in 2001. A Celebration of Life will

8/07/23 - Former Vancouver broadcaster Ryan Sullivan, who has been the morning show host at Surge 105.1 CKHY-FM Dartmouth/ Halifax for the past two years, has landed at Rock 102 CJDJ-FM 102.1 Saskatoon in p.m. drive. Sully was a digital host, content creator and announcer at JACK CJAX-FM 96.9 from 2019-21 and an anchor at News1130 CKWX from 2010-12.

associate producer Vincent Papequash has been charged in connection
with an alleged sexual assault of a minor. He is no longer an employee
of the Corporation. The allegations have not been proven in court.

as their Sports Information Coordinator. He will be overseeing stats,

“Welcome Back” 50th Anniversary reunion for Beachcombers’ cast, crew and
fans of the series is being hosted by Gibsons, B.C. September 15 to
17. Events will include screenings of best-loved episodes, some
