12/05/23 - Corus Radio has announced three new late night shows that will air on CKNW AM 980 Vancouver and other stations on the its radio network. The shows are Let’s Talk with Dani Stover, The Ongoing History of New Music and Uncharted: Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry, both hosted by Alan Cross.  Corus Radio Release

12/04/23 - The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/ Radio-Canada has announced that it plans to cut about 10 per cent of its workforce, 600 union and non-union positions, and eliminate some programming to cope with a potential $125 million budget shortfall. Dylan Willows

12/04/23 - The Zone CJZN-FM 91.3 Victoria morning host Dylan Willows is taking December off after being diagnosed with uveal melanoma, a rare type of cancer that occurs in the tissues of the eye. 12/02/23 - Former Vancouver broadcaster Tamara Stanners is urging people to consider getting a shingles vaccine as she went through excruciating pain and is now recovering. 12/02/23 - CBC Victoria multimedia journalist Emily Vance has announced she has completed her position filling in as CBC BC's Legislative reporter for the fall session. The 2019 BCIT Broadcast and Online Journalism graduate has been with CBC since 2020 and handles a number of roles.  X Posting

12/01/23 - Hannah Lepine is leaving CHEK-TV Victoria after this weekend. The 2020 Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) graduate joined CHEK as a multimedia journalist in May 2021, moving to weekend anchor in March 2022.  X Announcement

11/30/23 - Corus Entertainment has cancelled the late night network talk show The Shift with Shane Hewitt which airs locally on CKNW AM 980 Vancouver. CKNW Pledge Day 2023

11/27/23 - The 46th Annual CKNW AM 980 Vancouver Kids’ Fund Pledge Day is Tuesday, November 28th. Now in its 46th year, the annual event will feature a live radio broadcast from CKNW from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by an in-person broadcast hosted  by Jas Johal from the Fairmont Hotel in downtown Vancouver from 3 to 7 p.m.  Corus Release

11/22/23 - Retired CBC Vancouver News Cameraman Christer Waara passed away November 14th following diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Further information to come.

11/21/23 - The CBC Vancouver annual Open House and Food Bank Day returns December 1. 11/18/23 - CityNews 1130 CKWX Vancouver adds Now You Know With Rob Snow weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m beginning Monday, November 20. The show, which will originate in Ottawa, will feature a "deep dive into the top headlines of the day", and will be heard on CityNews stations across Canada. 11/15/23 - The new Vancouver Canucks broadcast duo of Ray Ferraro and John Shorthouse, who debuted on Sportsnet are getting fan approval, noting their great chemistry. 11/15/23 - Sarah MacDonald and Clayton Little of Global BC have won the Best News Reporting of the Year for Failed in Life and Death: The Story of Noelle O'Soup in the 2023 Webster Awards. Global's Paul Johnson and Cody Chaban won for Diversion of Drugs in the Excellence in Health Reporting category. 11/12/23 - The BC Country Music Association has awarded its 2023 Country On-Air Personality of the Year to two radio personalities, Jaxon Hawks and Curtis Pope. 11/06/23 - Former Corus Entertainment Vancouver Executive Larry Gifford reports he is doing well and back at home resting comfortably following DBS surgery. Ron Harrison

11/06/23 - Former CBC Vancouver television Sports Director Ron Harrison passed away October 14 in Newmarket ON at age 82. He joined CBC in the early 60s, later moving to CBC Sports, where he worked for CBC Vancouver as a producer and director of network sports for the west. His work was recognized with two Emmy Awards, two Geminis and a Sports Media Canada Achievement Award. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #426, 707 Srigley Street, Newmarket on Sunday, November 12th.  Toronto Star Obituary

11/05/23 - An obituary has been published for Vancouver broadcaster Doriana Temolo who passed away from breast cancer November 1 at age 64. 11/01/23 - Global BC news reporter/ anchor Kamil Karamali has joined CTV Toronto as its National News Correspondent. The 2012 BCIT broadcast journalism graduate has been with Global, first in Toronto then in Vancouver for the past six years, following a short run with Global Calgary in 2017.

Doriana Temolo

11/01/23 - Long-time Vancouver radio and TV broadcaster Doriana Temolo died this morning of breast cancer at age 64. Early in her career she had worked at CKNW radio and CKVU-TV before joining BCTV as a reporter, news anchor and producer in 1987. She went on to produce Global National from 2001-11 and was News Director from 2011-16.

11/01/23 - A Celebration of Life for long-time Vancouver radio broadcaster and video producer Jim Morrison, who passed away September 23rd at age 80, was held Tuesday (10/31) at the UBC Golf Club. Among the speakers were veteran broadcasters George Garrett, Larry Hennessey and Dave MacLachlan. 

Rob Christie

11/01/23 - Former Vancouver broadcaster Rob Christie, who retired from radio in 2018, returns to the airwaves. Among his many positions, he hosted mornings at CKKS-FM/ CKLG-FM Vancouver from 1999-2003 and was a weekend weather anchor at BC CTV Vancouver from 2001-03. Christie starts hosting mornings today at Edmonton market MIX 107.9 CKFT-FM Fort Saskatchewan AB.  Heartland News
