Veteran concert photographer Dee Lippingwell passed away Thursday at age
78. In addition to over 50 years of photographing music stars, she took
numerous photos of local broadcasters. Lippingwell's career began with a

5/10/24 - the B.C. Association of Broadcasters (BCAB) has awarded its Broadcast Performer of the Year to longtime The Zone CJZN-FM 91.3 Victoria morning show duo of Jason Lamb and Dylan Willows. Willows stepped away from the station in March following a recurrence of a rare ocular cancer he battled 20 years ago. Tchadas Leo of CHEK-TV Victoria, who hosts the station’s first-ever podcast Our Native Land, was named the Broadcast Performer of Tomorrow.

5/09/24 - Angela Valiant, who was released from the morning show at SONiC CKKS-FM 104.9 Vancouver last month, has posted a farewell to listeners. Rogers Radio told Daily Hive that Alex Carr will host the morning show in the interim and that news about the future lineup will be revealed in the coming weeks. Amir Ali, Daily Hive

5/06/24 - The Get Connected technology radio show hosted by Mike Agerbo has been cancelled by CKNW AM 980 Vancouver. The 10-11 a.m. Saturday show ran for two decades. Agerbo, who is the CEO & Executive Producer of GetConnected Media, indicates the station wants paid/ infomercial slots on the weekend.

5/05/24 - Veteran Vancouver sportscaster Farhan Lalji is being inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
He will be officially enshrined as part of the Football Reporters of
Canada Grey Cup breakfast in Vancouver this November. In addition to
serving as the Vancouver Bureau Reporter for TSN, Lalji has worked on the BC Lions’ radio broadcasts as pre and post-game host during its time on TSN 1040 and as a part time sports reporter/ anchor at CTV Vancouver. TSN Release

Former CBC Vancouver freelance cameraman Ray Fitzwalter passed away
April 24 following a decade-long battle with Parkinson's disease. His
body will be cremated and there will be no service.

5/03/24 - Veteran Vancouver broadcaster Jody Vance has been inducted into the RPM Hall of Fame. The RPM Lunch, which was started by Red Robinson
over two decades ago, is a regular lunchtime gathering of radio
personalities, and continues to this day following Red's passing on
April 1 last year at age 86. Vance has been a prominent local
broadcaster since 1988 and currently co-hosts talk show Steele and Vance with Lynda Steele weekly on CHEK-TV Victoria. X Posting
